General Rules of Tipton

TIPTON CAMERA CLUB RULES
AND CONSTITUTION  
January 2024

1. The Club shall be known as TIPTON CAMERA CLUB

2. A Chairman and Vice-Chairman shall be appointed at an Annual General Meeting to serve until the succeeding Annual General Meeting.

3. If the Chairman, for whatever reason, fails to complete their period in office, the Vice-Chairman shall succeed to the position for the remainder of the period of office.

4. A Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Social Media Secretary and not less than four or not more than five members of the Committee shall be appointed at an Annual General Meeting. Casual vacancies during the year may be filled from within the Committee except that at no time shall the post of Secretary and that of Treasurer be held by one person.

5. Notice of an Annual General Meeting and of an Extraordinary General Meeting shall be posted on the club notice board three weeks before the date of the proposed meeting, in addition a written notice is to be sent to each member in respect of an Extraordinary General Meeting.

6. The annual subscription shall be decided at the Annual General Meeting.

7. The Treasurer is required to ensure that, at all times, the Club has a valid Public Liability Insurance Policy, that the premium is paid on time and is for the sum agreed by the Committee.

8. Any person aged over 18 years declaring an interest in photography may apply for membership, all applications shall be considered by the Committee, the Committee’s decision shall be final.

9. Any person aged over 18 years applying for membership does so on the understanding that he/she is prepared to accept the conditions laid down in this document.

10. Failure to pay the annual subscription (or proportion for the period Christmas onwards) within five weeks of acceptance as a member invalidates membership. Existing members are required to pay their annual subscription within five weeks of the commencement of the season.

11. Exhibitors in the Club’s Annual Exhibition are restricted to those persons whose membership has been confirmed.

12. The Committee shall manage the Club’s day to day affairs and from time to time formulate rules for competitions and for the Annual Exhibition. The rules shall have the same authority as though they were included in this document.

13. Should any group of members, having good cause, request the Chairman to call an Extraordinary General Meeting and he fails to do so within six weeks, a group of members equalling one third of the members shall have the right to call such a meeting.

14. Should, for any reason, the club be faced with closure, all equipment owned by the Club together with monies held in bank accounts and cash held by the Treasurer should be donated to photographic, charitable or educational organisations within the Black Country area which are dedicated to photography / digital imaging. The process of distribution should ensure that no member of the Club, including Officers and Committee members, is able to benefit financially or by acquisition from the distribution.

“Any person” shall mean any member of the community aged over 18 years and does not discriminate on grounds of sex, race, religion, disability, ethnicity or age.

Vulnerable adults will not be encouraged to join unless, if appropriate, they are accompanied at all times by a carer. The Club does not offer any chaperoning service or carer service.
The Club does not offer junior membership for those members of the community who have not yet reached their eighteenth birthday.
